Collaborative Lab Classroom
Through grant monies from the Foundation for Early Learning - Yakima Children's Fund, children with social, emotional, communication and behavioral needs are served in the Collaborative Lab Classroom, a program designed for Children's Village and community partners to share in providing evidence-based practice approaches for children with specific learning needs. Our doors opened in August, 2007, and serves children ages 30-58 months.
The goal of the Lab Classroom is for children to develop the school readiness skills needed to transition successfully to their local school district programs. A multi-discipline group of providers offers individualized instruction and 1:1 support for each child. Services provided include:
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech/Language Therapy
- Infant Mental Health
- Behavioral Therapy
The Lab Classroom is supervised by a certified special education teacher who is aided by community volunteers, as well as the service providers. In September, students from Central Washington University will also join the classroom. Classes operate 4 days a week from 8:30-11:30 with a parent "chat" group offered on Mondays.
Referrals are accepted from participating school district special education departments. For more information call 574-3260/(800)745-1077.
