Early Head Start
Early Head Start is a home-based early childhood development and family support program. The purpose of the program is to enhance children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development while supporting the parents as the primary educators of their children.
Early Head Start at Children's Village is provided by Enterprise for Progress in the Community (EPIC).
In the program, trained home visitors meet on a weekly basis with families to provide learning activities that meet the developmental needs of children birth to 3 years of age.
Services include:
- Family Support.
- Developmental and medical screening, and referrals for evaluations, if necessary.
- Support of Individualized Family Service Plans as needed.
- Twice monthly (bi-weekly) appointments at the Village to practice skills learned during home visits and to socialize with other children and families.
There are 32 slots available within the Yakima School District boundries and qualification is based on federal financial guidelines. A minimum of 10% of slots are available for children with special health care needs.
Referrals can be made by parents, medical providers, caseworkers, or others by contacting Children's Village at 509-574-3264 or 1-800-745-1077.
