Feeding Clinic
The Feeding Clinic at Children's Village provides consultation, information, and support to families who have children with feeding concerns. Services are provided for children living in Central Washington through a multi-agency effort with professionals available for evaluations.
Team members include:
- Dietitian
- Behavior Therapist
- Occupational Therapist
- Speech and Language Pathologist
- Family Resource Coordinator
The team works with families who have children with issues related to:
- Poor nutrition
- Problems with sucking, biting, chewing and swallowing
- Difficulties with smell, taste, and feel of foods
- Poor growth: too small or too heavy
- Challenging behavior at mealtime
- Transitioning from a feeding tube to taking food by mouth
The team develops a plan that suggests how to improve nutrition, expand food choices, develop better mealtime behavior, provide ways to improve feeding skills and attempt to address any other family concerns.
- The team meets weekly.
- Services are covered by medical coupons and some insurance policies.
Referrals can be made by families, physicians, nurses, schools, and therapists by contacting Children's Village at 509-574-3260 or 1-800-745-1077. A doctor's prescription is necessary.
