Kids On The Block

one 2 one

The Kids on the Block provides educational puppet programs that enlighten children on the issues of disability awareness, medical and educational differences, and social concerns. Volunteers are trained to become puppeteers and help present skits to groups of people at schools, community centers, parks, and other settings. Prior to becoming a puppeteer, the following process must be completed:

  • Attend a 2 ½ hour training session that focuses on team building, puppeteer skills, disability awareness, and communication techniques.
  • Attend one rehearsal session.
  • Complete an application process that includes submitting two personal references.

Once the above items are completed the Kids on the Block coordinator schedules presentations and puppeteers to do the skits. Opportunities to socialize and play with children often arise.

Inquiries to the Kids on the Block program can be made by contacting Children's Village at 509-574-3260 or 1-800-745-1077.
